Massive Theme Park With ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘Twilight’ to Open in South Korea

Canadian-American film studio Lionsgate is gearing up to bring movies such as “The Hunger Games”, “Twilight Saga” and “Now You See Me” out of the big screen and into real life by opening a humongous 1.3 million-square-foot theme park in South Korea.

According to TheVerge, Lionsgate is partnering with Landing International to bring their theme park to Jeju Shinhwa World. The planned theme park will be part of one of South Korea’s largest integrated resorts found on Jeju Island.

Lionsgate teased that the park will be divided into seven movie zones with each area featuring their own themed attractions. Additionally, each zone will also offer themed restaurants, entertainment performances, and state-of-the-art rides where guests can visit recreated set-pieces from the movie world.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that Lionsgate Movie World will be their very first branded outdoor theme park as well as one of their “largest and most-exciting” entertainment destinations to date. Lionsgate Movie World is scheduled to begin construction on 2018.

It’s only natural for Lionsgate to explore the theme park business given their successful track record in film hits such as “The Twilight Saga”, which garnered a gross income of over $3.3 billion. Meanwhile, other film studios, such as Paramount Pictures, are hoping to take the same path as well.

According to Independent, the movie studio behind films such as “Transformers” and “Mission Impossible” is hoping to build a theme park and resort in the UK worth 3.5 billion pounds. However, the development of the Paramount Entertainment Resort was stalled after the film makers parted ways with the developers of the theme park project.

Fans can only hope that Lionsgate won’t abandon their theme park before it prepares for its grand opening some time in 2019.
