Once the system is implemented, all car travellers aged six and above will be required to scan both thumbprints when seeking immigration clearance at Tuas and Woodlands.

According to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), all car travellers aged six and above will be subject to the procedure.
“The driver and passengers will be required to step out of their car and scan both thumbprints when they seek immigration clearance at the car counters,” the ICA said in a statement carried by Channel NewsAsia today.
The thumbprint scanning system, known as BioScreen, was launched in April last year. It presently applies to those travelling by train and bus, as well as lorries and goods vehicles at various clearance zones at land checkpoints.
In the report, the ICA said travellers may experience slightly longer immigration clearance time with the implementation of the system at car counters.
The system will be implemented in stages at the Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints to allow travellers time to familiarise themselves with the process. -FMT
