Info minister warns Malays of DAP's 'swing theory'
Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak appears to have concurred with DAP's assessment on how Pakatan Harapan can win the next general election.
In view of this, Salleh said, Malay voters also need to take note of DAP's assessment, if they want to prevent that party from taking over the country.
"If Malay voters back DAP in the next general election, can DAP control the country by contesting (about) 60 parliamentary seats alone? Yes, if Malays are not united.
"There are many mixed-ethnicity seats, especially in Perak, Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Malacca.
"As what was said by DAP leaders, a 10 to 15 percent swing of Malay votes will allow them (Harapan) to control Putrajaya," Salleh said.
Salleh said this scenerio was possible because DAP was using its allies Amanah, PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to elicit Malay support.
He said this was seen before, in the 2008 and 2013 elections, when DAP was allied with PAS.
But now that the two parties have broken ties, DAP was coming up with various propaganda efforts to convince PAS supporters to back Harapan.
"If Malays support Harapan, DAP and its allies will potentially win a few mixed-ethnicity seats.
"Therefore, do not be emotional. Think of the future of the country before being drawn to Harapan.
"BN's politics is about results, compromise among ethnic groups and we have proven that we can develop the country," Salleh said. - Mkini
