Restaurant Sends Thugs to Brutally Beat Man After Wife Leaves Negative Review in China

A man in Changsha, China was nearly killed by ruthless thugs armed with clubs, causing serious brain injuries, after they read a negative online restaurant review written by the man’s wife, identified by her surname Yu.

According to Shanghaiist, the police asked the barbecue restaurant owner about the attack, and he admitted to sending thugs over to Yu’s mahjong parlor to confront and threaten her to take the review down.

He also added that the night food delivery industry is extremely competitive, making the trouble to take down the negative review that could hurt the restaurant’s reputation worth it.

The incident happened on Tuesday when the man’s wife had a few friends over at their mahjong parlor in Hunan, the capital of Changsha. The ladies decided to order barbecue from a restaurant they found through a mobile app.

However, Yu did not like the food as it didn’t taste quite fresh when it was delivered to them. So the next day, she wrote a negative review on the mobile app, saying that the barbecue was pretty terrible.

Moments later, Yu received a call asking if she was the one who made the negative review. The mysterious caller then hung up the call after Yu confirmed she wrote the post.

That evening, at around 8 p.m., seven to eight men reportedly crashed the mahjong parlor and tried to harass, threaten and question Yu about the negative review she posted.

After hearing all the ruckus, her husband confronted the thugs, but things didn’t turn out the way he planned. The husband was brutally beaten with clubs, smashing them over his head. The men fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Yu’s husband was rushed to the emergency room of a local hospital, and was transferred to an intensive care unit for serious brain injuries. Reportedly, he’s in stable condition while police investigations are ongoing.
