Chee Soon Juan Calls For A Unified Opposition
Chee Soon Juan has fired another salvo towards breaking PAP's monopoly in Singapore politics, by calling for all opposition party in Singapore to work together to gain voters' trust and their votes. Dr Chee also said that the differences between the country’s opposition are ‘minuscule’ compared to their common stance.
Dr Chee said this at his party's walkabout at Yuhua Village Market and Food Centre on Sunday morning. Dr Chee was also quoted as saying that he looked forward to working with the PSP helmed by Dr Tan Cheng Bock, the rising star of the opposition, as well as with WP, who remains the only opposition party in Singapore to have won in a GRC. Subsequently, SDP said in a statement that they had an extensive walkabout at all five constituencies they were planning to contest in the next General Election. The five wards are Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Yuhua, Holland-Bukit Timah and Marsiling-Yew Tee.
Dr Chee later further reiterated his call, indicating “We will be definitely be looking to work with Dr Tan’s party, hopefully with WP and other parties as well, and bringing everybody together so that we can present a more comprehensive message.”
Just imagine, if all the opposition parties can work together and out their minor differences aside, then the PAP certainly will have a tough battle on their hands. After all, how many opposition leaders can they taint with their dirty tactics during every Election year?
