Yoursay: Dr M, time to replace the deadwood in the cabinet

YOURSAY | ‘By now, the PM should know who can work and who can only talk.’
Anonymous Malaysia2018: Action ministers, not talking ministers, please. People demand deeds, not words. Any fool can talk, and talk big. We want working ministers.

By now, the prime minister should know who can work and who can only talk. We, voters, want results, not hot air.
Dan: Former international trade and industry minister Mustapa Mohamed (Tok Pa) is a fair-weather politician.
He was with former premiers Najib Abdul Razak/Abdullah Ahmad Badawi all the way and fought against Pakatan Rakyat-Pakatan Harapan.
He jumped ship when it suited him. If he is coming back, it is because he can help strengthen the position of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and possibly be his anointed successor.
Bluemountains: It will be a big slap on the face of those who have been supporting Harapan component parties since the reformasi days if Mahathir were to appoint Mustapa to the cabinet.
Mustapa is a newcomer to Harapan and he came from a party which has been rejected by the people. Mahathir must not bypass loyal supporters and reward those who jumped ship only after being rejected by the people.
Malaysian-United: Yet another Bersatu appointment. The government is infested with them. There needs to be a counter-balance from the other component parties.
This small tumour is growing into full-blown cancer.
Bluemountains: Why is PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim still not in the cabinet? He is the only head of a component party who is not in the cabinet.
Is Mahathir being fair? What is Mahathir's motive for keeping Anwar out? Malaysians can smell a rat.
MS: If anyone seriously expects the impending changes to be an improvement, get prepared to be disappointed.
Indeed, the prime minister is merely consolidating the position of his party, nothing more.
Anonymous_1534475499: Like it or not, Tok Pa is a seasoned minister and did well during his time at Miti. He brought in foreign investments even when confidence in Malaysia was low. He has the skills, so bring him back.
We are not seeing anything good with Darell Leiking. He is in the pocket of (aspiring third car manufacturer) DreamEdge. What investment has Darell brought in for Malaysia?
For that matter, he would do very well in the rural development portfolio. We are not seeing anything positive from that minister either.
Appoint people based on capabilities, and not just for politics.
Pegasus: All the Bersatu ministers must go. Tok Pa and former minister Rafidah Aziz should be brought in - one for entrepreneurship development and the other for education. These two are very important portfolios.
Mahathir must act now.
Clever Voter: A cabinet reshuffle is a feel-good factor. The reality is that it won’t make much difference if the overall leadership and directions are contradictory, and one that has no resemblance to the promises made during the general election.
Anonymous_f9c6586c: I would prefer Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, the former second finance minister. He has integrity.
He resigned because of the 1MDB scandal, unlike Mustapa, who defended the kleptocrat. Of course, Husni has to be made a senator first.
Headhunter: Ask Tok Pa to apologise to the people first for defending the former prime minister in plundering the nation.
Are we witnessing the rebirth of Umno in another form, like bad wine in new bottle?
Pegasus: Entrepreneur Development Minister Mohd Redzuan Yusof can be moved to rural development where he can harp on Malay supremacy to the rural people.
They will be happy to listen to him and he can fix street lights, road and bridges for them. The rural Malays will be very happy to have him as their minister.
Mohd Isnin: If Maszlee is still retained after all the nonsense, Harapan can ‘bungkus’ (wrap up). We gave our vote and our trust but some people are still busy doing what pleases them.
I would strongly recommend Rafidah as our new education minister. Since she is not an MP or a full-time political party officer bearer, it would only be wise to appoint her.
She is able to read the pulse of the nation and parents better. Otherwise, this reshuffle is meaningless.
Thana55: Yes, Maszlee seems the obvious candidate to be shown the door. I am also not sure about Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad.
Rakyat is expecting delivery of election manifesto within a reasonable timeframe. Ministers who cannot deliver (which should be pretty evident to Mahathir by now) must go, or he goes.
Siti Baldishah: Can we use this opportunity to have Kuala Lumpur MPs appointed as the federal territories minister as well as deputy minister?
There are 11 MPs in Kuala Lumpur and several who are not holding any ministerial portfolio now. Hannah Yeoh (Segambut), Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Setiawangsa) and Fahmi Fadzil (Lembah Pantai) come to mind.
I am not as confident with Lim Lip Eng (Kepong), Tan Kok Wai (Cheras) and Teresa Kok (Seputeh), not to mention the silent chair warmers like Fong Kui Loon (Bukit Bintang), P Prabakaran (Batu), Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak), Rina Harun (Titiwangsa), and Tan Yee Kew (Wangsa Maju), who doesn’t even seem to know what the Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 (KLCP2020) is all about.
Jocelyn Nya: Mahathir, if you or your people are listening, please get rid of Khalid Samad as Federal Territories minister.
He has gone against the wishes of the people with the KLCP2020 gazetted without public consultation.
There is no meaningful way to object against over-development and Khalid has fought tooth and nail for the development in Bukit Kiara and to maintain the allegedly corrupt Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.
Please remove him and replace with a Kuala Lumpur MP. The people will love you for it, Tun.
Mission Accomplished: You forgot to add, Mahathir must go too by confirming his date of departure - within two years.
Prudent: The only meaningful cabinet reshuffle I want is for Mahathir to step aside for his successor immediately. - Mkini
