KUALA LUMPUR – PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the cooperation between his party and Umno had been agreed upon by the late PAS spiritual adviser, Nik Aziz Nik Mat, when he was alive.

e said it had been discussed by Nik Aziz at a majlis syura, or meeting, previously.

“Ta’awun, or cooperation, is a term which had been agreed upon by Nik Aziz when he was alive because of the PAS-Umno cooperation since the 1970s.

“It had been discussed when he was alive,” Hadi said at a press conference at Putra World Trade Centre, where PAS and Umno formally signed a histroric charter to seal their alliance.

Hadi signed on behalf of PAS, and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi signed on behalf of his party at an event witnessed by thousands of members from both sides.
