Sacked PKR Youth chairman welcomed to congress, but only as ordinary member or observer, says Chief
KUALA LUMPUR: Sacked PKR National Youth permanent chairman can still come to the party youth congress in Melaka, but just as a normal party member or observer, says party youth (AMK) chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir (pic).
He said Muhammad Mizan Adli Mohd Nor has already been disqualified and party members must understand and follow the party's rules that only delegates and members of the AMK can participate in the congress.
This, he said, is to avoid any issues with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
"For me personally, I welcome any members to attend our congress in Melaka. But, if he wants to attend as an observer or party member, we will not block him from attending because we even invited the media and representatives from the central leadership Council (MPP).
"We must always respect the procedures of the congress," he told reporters at the parliament lobby.
Muhammad Mizan has insisted that he will continue to chair the PKR Youth congress in Melaka this Friday (Dec 6), despite being stripped of his position as the wing's permanent chairman.
"I will chair the PKR Youth National Congress Assembly. That is the trust given by the delegates, and I will shoulder the responsibility, and if they want to replace me, they can make the suggestion during the upcoming congress," he had reportedly said.
On Nov 28, PKR National Youth has sent out letters to sack its permanent chairman Muhamad Mizan Adli and his deputy Mohd Ramly Ahmad just days before the national congress.
Akmal said that a new permanent chair will be elected during the youth wing congress.
"It must come from the congress. So, it is not a personal issue, or problems with any individuals.
"We just want to protect the current rules and regulations, so it will be handled by us.
"We will let the delegates make the decision because the nominations for the permanent chairman and the deputy chairman must come from the divisions' AGM.
"All the names that had been submitted will be considered by the delegates for them to make the final decision," he said.
He said his only concern at the moment is that there will be too many people attending the youth congress.
"All this while AMK congress is attended by those who are related to AMK.
" But now I think with the interest, there will be too many people, and we do not know how to control the crowd," added the Johor Baru MP.- Star
