The year ahead according to your Chinese zodiac sign
PETALING JAYA: The Year of the Golden Rat is finally upon us! As is tradition, what better way to welcome the New Year than by having your fortune read?
Kenny Hoo, the founder of Good Feng Shui Geomantic Research, has 20 years of experience in this field. FMT visited him to find out what lies ahead for Malaysians this year.
If you’re born in the year of the:
1. Rat (2008, 1996, 1984, …)
According to Hoo, the rat will have a prosperous 2020.
“Unlike what some people think, it isn’t true that during this rat year, the rat zodiac will be offending the Celestial Emperor,” he says
This year will see rats being showered with good luck and support in their lives, doubly so in the later part of the year.
Women born in the rat year are also encouraged to try and conceive this year, as a child will bring even better luck to their household.
2. Ox (2009, 1997, 1985, …)
“The ox will have one of the best fortunes among the 12 zodiac animals,” says Hoo.
Like the rat, the ox will receive substantial support from others and more importantly, the groundwork for projects started in prior years will start to bear fruit.
“This year they will reap a good harvest. A lot of beneficial things will happen to them.”
He suggests that ox people proceed with their plans for everything will be well and good for them, including their health.
3. Tiger (2010, 1998, 1986, …)
The tiger can expect to have a busy year in 2020. “Running up and down, travelling here and there.”
Hoo warns that investments this year may have little returns, so the tiger must stay cool and patient while relying on himself.
Hoo suggests tigers take extra care of their health and spend more time with their loved ones, especially the elderly.
“Be patient. Do what you have to do. If it doesn’t work out, learn from it and gain more knowledge from it.”
4. Rabbit (2011, 1999, 1987, …)
Rabbits can expect to be more radiant and likeable this year, as the Peach Blossom star shines on them.
With more likeability comes more support and rabbit-owned businessess will prosper.
Hoo cautions that rabbits in an established relationship should remain loyal as there will be unwanted attention from third parties.
Careful relationship management is thus a must to avoid any misunderstanding.
5. Dragon (2012, 2000, 1988, …)
The dragon should abstain from arguments to avoid invoking ill feelings from others.
Gossip should be ignored and if caution is not applied, lawsuits may soon come flying your way.
If you are signing a contract, every single detail must be carefully studied to avoid misunderstanding.
The year will be a fruitful one, however, with many business opportunities revealing themselves.
6. Snake (2013, 2001, 1989, …)
The snake will have to be cautious about their health this year, advises Hoo.
“Strengthen your muscles. Do more exercise to enhance your immune system.”
Hoo suggests that snakes be patient during this relatively uneventful year.
Quite possibly, a career advancement is on the cards at the end of the waiting period.
7. Horse (2014, 2002, 1990, …)
The horse will not have an easy time this year, and ought to be more conservative in their decision-making.
“Try not to make any drastic changes or decisions, especially in June or December” instructs Hoo.
When making decisions, the Horse should consult more knowledgeable peers on the matter.
In addition, the horse has to practice patience in this tough year and avoid impulsiveness.
8. Goat (2015, 2003, 1991, …)
The goat can expect to have an excellent year ahead, with everything working out for them.
Goat business people should capitalise on this and set up expansion plans.
“You can expect business opportunities, new territories and untapped markets that you can explore further” he enthuses.
This year will be one of the most prosperous and wonderful for the goat.
9. Monkey (2016, 2004, 1992, …)
The monkey will gain more prominence in the public sphere, Hoo says.
This greater visibility can thus be used to exploit untapped markets and establish new markets with the help of their expanded network.
Monkeys ought to travel more to help enhance their businesses, services and products and gain more business opportunities.
They will need to stay healthy to ensure that they have the full energy to venture out and open a new phase in their lives.
10. Rooster (2017, 2005, 1993, …)
Roosters can expect a happy year ahead, with high chances of marriage, conception or job advancement.
Roosters in an established romantic relationship can expect friction arising from unwanted attention by third parties.
Hence, more understanding will be required by both partners in the relationship.
“The rooster will enjoy a very fruitful year and everything will fall into place nicely,” predicts Hoo.
11. Dog (2018, 2006, 1994, …)
2020 will not start off smoothly, but a lifesaver and much support will emerge in the second half of the year around October.
Patience is advised for all endeavours this year.
“Around September, try not to make any major or drastic decisions like changing jobs or making heavy investments.”
Hoo advises the dog to consult knowledgeable friends and family when it comes to decision-making.
12. Boar (2019, 2007, 1995, …)
Like the snake, the boar too will have to take extra precautions regarding their health.
But luckily, the Scholastic Star shines on them, increasing their intelligence and creativity this year.
The boar should take this opportunity to learn more life skills, especially technology-related ones.
“That will further enhance their skills and improve their career opportunities as well.” - FMT
