Kota Kinabalu MP dismissed as Labuan Port Authority chairperson
Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin said he has been officially dismissed as the Labuan Port Authority (LPA) chairperson.
"Finally this evening, I have received a termination letter as the LPA chairperson even though the letter was backdated to April 1.
"I would like to take this opportunity to record my highest appreciation to my fellow colleagues in LPA and also for the support and guidance from the ministry," Chan said in a statement on his Facebook today.
He included a picture of the letter in the Facebook posting.
The letter, signed by Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong, said his ministry had reviewed the list of chairpersons and board members of statutory bodies under their jurisdiction.
"In accordance with that, it has been decided that your service as the LPA chairperson will be ended effective April 1, 2020.
"This ministry records its highest appreciation and thanks for your service throughout your time at LPA," the letter read.
The Pakatan Harapan government was formed after the 14th General Election in May 2018 but in less than two years, the government collapsed and the Perikatan Nasional government took over in February 2020.
The Perikatan Nasional government is a cooperation between BN, PAS, Bersatu, GPS and several former PKR leaders.
