15 Killed In 2 Bomb Blasts in Jolo - By Abu Sayaf and ISIS Philippines

MANILA - 1st explosion from bomb in motorcycle rocked Jolo noon Monday

2nd blast a hundred meters away, woman suicide bomber 

15 killed — 7 soldiers, 6 civilians, 1 policeman and “suicide bomber”, 75 wounded 

mastermind of two blasts same person 

bomb maker was Mundi Sawadjaan an Abu Sayyaf leader

Abu Sayyaf allied itself with Islamic State

Sawadjaan relative of Islamic State-Philippine head Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan

who got away from 4 Army intel officers in Jolo 

was also behind last year’s suicide bombing in Jolo Cathedral 

cathedral bombed in Jan last year, killing 23 people, wounded 102

by 2 Indon suicide bombers

My comments :

This bomb attack shows ISIS tactics.  The first bomb attached to a motorbike was an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) which is a favourite of the ISIS. 

The second bomb was a female suicide bomber - another tactic of the ISIS.

It looks like ISIS Philippines will soon be challenging Abu Sayyaf for notoriety.

Why now? The Philippine Army had killed an Abu Sayyaf commander recently. This attack was a possible retaliation.

The Philippines has been very badly hit by the corona virus. They have over 194,000 cases with over 3000 deaths. 

And hear this folks, about half the working population are unemployed.

In July 2020, adult unemployment in the Philippines rose to 45.5% or 27.3 million.

A 28% increase from 17.1% in December 2019.

Half the unemployment was from BEFORE the corona virus.

The Philippines still has multiple problems to handle. 

Sabah better be on alert for any terrorists from the Philippines seeking shelter.
