PETALING JAYA: As the country battles the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has issued a reminder to the rakyat, especially politicians, against dragging the country into uncertainty again.

In making the reminder, the King said they must self-reflect on their actions as Malaysia is facing many problems and a difficult future due to the threat of the pandemic.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also urged all mosques in the country to perform the solat hajat (special prayers) and pray for the pandemic to end effectively and quickly.

“His Majesty advised everyone to continue playing their respective roles and be disciplined in adhering to standard operating procedure and the new norm practices to assist authorities in fighting the spread of Covid-19 for the people’s safety and the welfare of the country.“Taking blessings in conjunction with the glorious Friday, Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the people to pray that the country we love is blessed with peace and serenity for the prosperity of the country and its people,” said a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

The statement from the palace was issued following the reinforcement of the conditional movement control order in Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Ahmad Fadil added in the statement that Al-Sultan Abdullah also took the opportunity to touch on

the latest political developments by reiterating his advice to members

of parliament when he opened the first meeting of the third session of 14th Parliament on May 18.

“His Majesty reiterated his advice to members of parliament during the opening ceremony to showcase maturity in politics, understand the grievances of the people and not neglect the people’s well-being.

“His Majesty stressed that politicians should not resort to hostility when in disagreement but instead resolve problems through consultation and legal processes that are enshrined in the Federal Constitution,” he said. - Star
