SHAH ALAM: Officials of the ministry of domestic trade and consumer affairs inspected and seized items from a well-known restaurant in Subang Jaya yesterday, following an allegation of pork in the curry noodle dish served there.

The ministry’s Selangor director, Muhamad Zikril Azan Abdullah, said the inspection was carried out by five enforcement officers. They found that the restaurant has a halal certificate from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) which is valid until Nov 30.

“According to the restaurant manager, he employs three Myanmar nationals as cooks.

“Further inspection at the kitchen section of the restaurant found the raw ingredients used to prepare the curry noodle. The main raw material, believed to be chicken meat, was seized for laboratory testing by experts,” he said in a statement today.

Also seized in the inspection were a JAKIM halal certificate and the supplier’s raw material delivery documents, said Muhamad Zikril Azan.

He said the manager of the premises said that the supply of raw materials was ordered by the headquarters of the company. - FMT
