KLANG (June 19): Amirudin Shari, the state assemblyman for Sungai Tua, is the new menteri besar of Selangor.

He succeeds Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who has been appointed the Minister for Economic Affairs in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Amirudin, 38, took his oath of office as the 16th menteri besar of the state before the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, at Istana Alam Shah here. The Sultan also presented him with the letter of appointment.
