Korean Man Gains 332,000 YouTube Subscribers Filming Himself Studying for Hours in Silence

A Korean man has become an instant online celebrity after publishing and live streaming several videos of him studying alone.

The YouTuber, Bot-No-Jam (봇노잼), managed to attract over 321,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel where he uploaded several videos of him studying, which he titled “Study with Me.” These videos are not exactly your typical hours-long clips of studying — they actually last an average of 6 hours per study session or live stream.

Bot-No-Jam first uploaded a video of his studying last year, however, his constant update and live streaming did not begin until months later. According to Korea Herald, he often live streams his study session where he prepares for a state exam to become a police officer.

There are no exciting bits in his videos. In fact, it only shows the YouTuber just sitting in his room as he studies in silence – sometimes he even rarely moves, speaks or even expresses any kind of emotion during the study session.

Despite these facts, many people are still attracted to his videos. Some even speculated that the attraction could be due to his K-pop star looks.

The YouTuber’s fame also managed to attract local media. He made an appearance on June 8 on SBS’ morning show “Morning Wide.”

During his interview, he revealed that his YouTube name Bot-No-Jam (which means “a robot with no fun”) actually comes from an old nickname of his.

People used to call me a robot when I was serving the military,” he said. “I expected nobody would see me just studying all day, so I added the words ‘No-Jam’ on my YouTube user name.”

Aside from studying, Bot-No-Jam also uploads vlogs of his daily life where he gets ready to go out, meets his friends, and others more. His latest vlog entry, which attracted more than 568,000 views, shows him hitting the gym.

His fan base also created Twitter accounts related to him with one of them, called “Everything about ‘Bot-No-Jam,’” has managed to attract over 4,200 followers.
