WSOP Champion Gets Long Apology From Tony Miles After Being Accused of ‘Slow Rolling’
Many poker fans argued that John Cynn pulled a “slow roll” on his last hand during the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event which earned him an $8.8 million cash prize.
Even his opponent, Tony Miles, was heard on a microphone calling the move out when Cynn was announced the winner at the Rio All-SuiteHotel & Casino on Sunday, according to For The Win.

Miles issued an apology on his Twitter account on Monday and posted screenshots of a lengthy letter addressing the situation.
I just wanted to respond to some of the things that were being said last night after my HU match with Johnny. I appreciate people being understanding and open-minded about a situation where we were both delirious and battling our ❤️’s out! pic.twitter.com/IKz7E0CiED

“I had a brief moment of weakness and lost my composure. I am a very emotional person. I LOVE this game with everything in me. I’m literally crying like a baby right now just writing this,” Miles wrote. “I know it’s hard for people to understand the pressure of this situation and that is no excuse for what I said to John following the hand. In retrospect, I do not believe in any way that it was a ‘slow roll.’”
Many fans argued whether or not he actually slow rolled on his final hand.
He (CYNN) did not have to slow roll that call though. I would be pissed immensely if i was tony miles… that’s basically rubbing it in. #WSOPFinalTable

There are others who stood by Cynn’s side and defended the champion by saying he did not slow roll.
Miles only made one Bluff the entire final table so when he Barrel barrels first tournament life anybody who thinks it’s a slow roll when he took that much time to call with King Jack is just a f****** idiot he was tired and wanted to make-sure!

That wasn’t a slowroll. Yes… it would’ve been better if he immediately said “I have a big hand but want to think this through,” but after 12hrs and 10 days of poker he did the best he could.
It was the biggest poker decision of his life and he wanted to take a minute.

Cynn didn’t slow roll. Several hands could beat him. The way that Miles played the hand it was a strong possibility he had one of those hands. Miles was tired and was in high stress situations for 11 hours. He reacted poorly but it looks like he realized that shortly after. pic.twitter.com/QkZRwwsKaY

I don’t know who calls what Cynn did a slow roll. Miles could have K-8, A-K, K-5. Also I don’t think people know what slow roll means. If someone said he was in the tank too long, maybe. But it’s for everything. No such animal as tank or slow roll there #WSOPMainEvent

This year’s event was considered the second-largest field in the tournament’s history which generated a prize pool of $74,015,600.
Cynn and Miles endured a marathon, playing against each other for 10 hours.
