Rapid development in Jempol, Gemas under 2019-2045 Negeri Sembilan plan
Development in the border areas of Jempol and Gemas will be further enhanced under the framework of the 2019-2045 Negeri Sembilan Economic Development plan currently being worked out by the state government, said Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.
He told the state assembly that Jempol would be developed as a food valley, while Gemas to be turned into a capitalist and agropolis centre.
“The state government is drawing up the direction of the 2-19-20-45 Negeri Sembilan Economic Development, containing implementation of new policy and existing policy which has been improved based on current economy,” he said.
He said development of Jempol into a food valley was aimed at turning the district into the main food supplier for Negeri Sembilan and the Klang Valley.
This would be carried out through several high-impact projects, including setting up of the Bandar Seri Jempol agropolitant centre, he said in response to a question from Abdul Razak Said (BN-Gemas) on development plans for the border towns.
On the development of Gemas, Aminuddin said it would be developed into a capitalist centre in tandem with the development of a conducive and sustainable town.
“Gemas will also be strengthened as an efficient and sustainable transportation hub with provisions of better public facilities and infrastructure and upgrading of traffic system and public relations,” he added.
He said the programmes for Gemas would also involve improving the social-economy of local residents, as well as building of affordable homes for the local people.
