Taiwan Deports 3D-Printed Gun Publisher Over Sexual Assault of a Child
American gun activist Cody Wilson has been jailed over a sexual assault charge after he was captured by Taiwanese officials and had him deported back to the United States.
Wilson, 30, who is best known for publishing blueprints of 3D-printed guns, reportedly fled to Taiwan earlier this month upon learning that he was under investigation.
He was arrested on Friday after the apartment owner recognized him on a local news report. By Sunday, he landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and was immediately booked into a Houston jail on a charge of sexual assault.
Based on the charges, Wilson allegedly paid $500 to a 16-year-old girl in exchange for sexual intercourse.

Wilson reportedly met the victim on a website called SugarDaddyMeet.com, claiming to her that he was a “big deal.”
The two exchanged naked pictures before meeting at a coffee shop in Austin, Texas. Wilson then took the teenager to a nearby hotel and went on to engage in sexual intercourse and oral sex.
Wilson and the girl were both captured on surveillance cameras when they were at the coffee shop and the hotel. The license plate of a vehicle registered to Wilson’s company was also caught on film. After the alleged assault, Wilson dropped the girl off at a Whataburger outlet.
The victim would reveal the details to a counselor who then reported Wilson to the authorities on Aug. 22.
After interviewing the girl, investigators obtained a warrant for Wilson’s arrest, but by then he had already flown to Taiwan, according to Reuters.
“We are glad that Cody is back in Texas again where we can work with him on his case,” Samy Khalil, Wilson’s lawyer, was quoted as saying. “That’s our focus right now, representing our client and preparing his defense.”
He was released from jail on the same day after posting $150,000 bond. He will be facing his charge in Travis County where the rest of his court hearings will take place, KHOU reports.
Wilson gained notoriety after his company Defense Distributed posted 3D plastic gun blueprints online, which anyone can download for free. Last month, a federal judge issued a nationwide injunction blocking the posting of the blueprints online.
