Guan Eng the ‘king of flip-flops’, says Najib

PETALING JAYA: Continuing his criticism of Lim Guan Eng, Najib Razak today called the finance minister the “king of flip-flops”, as he listed a series of what he described as policy reversals by the Pakatan Harapan government.
“(There have been) mistakes upon mistakes over figures on finances and the implementation of the sales and service tax. Our publicity hungry finance minister recently announced that foreign workers will have to pay their levy.
“The next day, he said the government would revert to the old structure where employers would bear the burden,” the former prime minister said on Facebook today.
Najib said after 200 days in power, the PH government was proving to be “consistently inconsistent”.
He cited the government’s announcement to ban foreigners from working as restaurant cooks, only to later say that it was just a proposal.
Najib said the PH government had also been sending vague messages on the status of projects it promised to cancel.
“There have been all sorts of statements issued. ‘We will cancel!’ ‘No, no, we are reviewing!’ ‘Decision has been made, we will postpone’. ‘Not postponed, we will go ahead!'” Najib wrote.
“Too many flip-flops,” he said, adding that the policy
reversals had damaged the government’s crediblity, leading to an outflow of funds.
“Foreign investors have lost their confidence in Malaysia,” he said. -FMT
