Aiman adamant on Semenyih hospital, wants people's voice heard

SEMENYIH POLLS | Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the Semenyih by-election, Muhammad Aiman Zainali is undeterred in calling for the construction of a hospital in the state constituency despite reservations by the health minister.
Aiman said he would be an advocate for the people of Semenyih, whom he said have long been calling for a local hospital.
"Even so, I will continue to carry forth the Semenyih people's voice until this is (achieved), and I hope that their voices are heard by the authorities," he told Malaysiakini this morning when eating breakfast at Kg Batu 26 Beranang.
He was commenting on the statement by Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad yesterday, which had called on Aiman to be more reasonable in the latter's by-election promise for a hospital to be built there.
Dzulkefly had reportedly said several factors must first be taken into consideration, including necessity and resident population, before a hospital could be built.
"Anyone can make promises but we hope the promises are more reasonable.
"Building a hospital is not like constructing any other premise. The minister must consider the need (for a hospital) as well as other conditions," the minister was quoted as saying by Bernama yesterday.
Aiman had highlighted the need for a hospital in Semenyih when asked about his election manifesto yesterday.
While he does not have a specific manifesto, the candidate, who is the son-in-law of the late Semenyih incumbent Bakhtiar Mohd Nor, said he had his own plan that will benefit the constituents, including the construction of the hospital.
Elaborating on the Health Ministry’s statement that a health clinic is more appropriate for Semenyih, Aiman told Malaysiakini today that he would also raise the issue if elected.
"We will bring this matter up, as we hope the clinic can be upgraded.
"(But I) will also bring up the matter of the hospital, as the voice of the people is calling for a hospital," he said.
Polling day for the Semenyih by-election is on March 2.  - Mkini
