Najib's 1MDB trial postponed to Aug 19

The 1MDB trial against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak will commence on Aug 19, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled today.

High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah set the date after hearing the prosecution's motion to postpone the trial, originally scheduled for May 14, due to Najib's ongoing SRC International case.

The judge set the 1MDB case to be heard from Aug 19 to 29, with the exception of Fridays. The trial is set to continue throughout October and November.

The trial dates in October, however, would depend on the defence's application to vacate the dates for the unrelated murder trial of the wife and children of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Jassan.
