Lakers Announce Nina Hsieh as Team’s New Head Athletic Trainer

The Los Angeles Lakers have announced today that they have promoted Nina Hsieh to the team’s Head Athletic Trainer for the 2019-2020 season.

Hsieh who has been with the Lakers and South Bay Lakers for over a decade, will be responsible for treating, preventing, and caring for treatment of injuries and emergency on-court procedures, according to the NBA.
Under the guidance of Dr. Judy Seto, she will oversee the training staff, and work with coaching staff and front office to optimize superior on-court performance.
“Nina has been an invaluable member of the Lakers and South Bay Lakers training staffs for over a decade,” said Rob Pelinka, general manager of the team. “Her wealth of experience, ability to forge relationships of trust with the players, as well as the knowledge and passion she brings to this position, make her the perfect fit for this role, and I couldn’t be more pleased.”
A native of Taiwan, Hsieh graduated from Cal State-Fullerton and was the athletic trainer for UC Santa Barbara’s women basketball team from 2004-2008, as well as the men’s soccer team from 2010-2011.

She joined the Lakers organization as the head athletic trainer for the South Bay Lakers, where she served seven seasons before becoming the Laker’s assistant athletic trainer for the last three seasons.
