PETALING JAYA: The Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant has resumed full operations after it was closed down yesterday when odour contamination was detected.
“We are still in the process of increasing the level of our water reserves, distribution systems and service tanks at the areas that were impacted by the disruption,” Air Selangor communications head Abdul Raof Ahmad said in a statement this morning.
Water tankers have been dispatched while 10 service centres have been activated from 8am to assist residents still affected by the disruption.
“Every effort is being taken to quickly restore the water supply and the cooperation of our customers is greatly appreciated,” Raof said.
The plant was shut down for more than 13 hours from yesterday until this morning, affecting more than 370,000 households in the Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang districts.
It was the fourth time this year that a main water plant had to be shut down resulting in water disruptions in large areas in the state. - FMT
