Trump Supporter Kathy Zhu Targeted With Fliers Calling Her a ‘White Supremacist’ at Michigan University

Kathy Zhu, an openly vocal supporter of U.S President Donald Trump, was labeled a “white supremacist” in fliers posted around the University of Michigan campus. 

Zhu took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share a photo of one of the fliers in which she is shown wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and making the “OK” sign. According to the Anti-Defamation League, the sign has been “falsely” attributed as a “hate symbol” by users of 4chan.

The flier reads: “Michigan, we have white supremacists on campus. They can be dangerous.”

“This is complete slander and incites violence towards me,” she tweeted. “Being a Trump supporter does not make me a white supremacist. I’m also Asian if you [social justice warriors] can’t tell.”

“That’s an incitement to violence, which is not free speach. It’s slander, which is not free speach. It’s speach intended to harass, intimidate, and humiliate. That’s not free speach but done in the hope to deny her of rights and that she suffer violence.”

The 21-year-old student, who was born in China’s Shandong province but grew up in Kissimmee, Florida, made headlines earlier this year after being stripped of her Miss Michigan title due tweets she had posted that were considered by pageant officials as being offensive.

According to Zhu, she was alerted by several people about the fliers on campus.

One flier associated her with the Ku Klux Klan, while another implied supporting Trump and supporting the U.S. military are mutually exclusive.

Zhu immediately filed a report to campus police which assured her that officers will be scanning campus for more posters and “might also look at security camera footage to see who was the one that posted the fliers.”

Zhu said no one from the university administration has reached out to her since.

“School did nothing,” Zhu said. “I talked to campus police, don’t know what their game plan is.”

She noted that when she finds the person who was behind the fliers, she will pursue legal action and hopes that the culprit “gets in trouble with the school.”

“People on campus know that I have a following and I’m a Trump supporter, so I’m an easy target,” she added.
