A jubilant Hadi says Tg Piai a vote against 'extremism'

TG PIAI POLLS | The results of the Tanjung Piai by-election signalled that voters are against "political extremism" and "slander", said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
"Pakatan Harapan's defeat in this by-election is a signal public objection against (Harapan's) failures to take care of the public and unfulfilled election promises.
"It is also a signal that the public rejects the culture of political extremism and slander," he said in a statement last night.
Hadi described BN's stunning victory last night as the result of the newly formed Muafakat Nasional's cooperation.

"This victory showed that our diverse society accepted the agenda of uniting the ummah (Muslim community) and has charted the way forward for greater cooperation and integration at the national level," he said.
Last night, the Tanjung Piai voters handed Harapan its worst by-election defeat ever.
Harapan won only 26.74 percent of the votes cast, against 65.6 percent won by BN.
Meanwhile, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said the Tanjung Piai results signalled that Harapan should expedite its reform agenda.
"DAP and Harapan accept the devastating result of the Tanjong Piai voters who spoke not only on behalf of themselves but of the country at their frustration and unhappiness at the pace of reforms since the 2018 elections.
"The devastating Tanjong Piai by-election result has given greater urgency and importance to the review of the pace and implementation of the reforms promised by Harapan, especially those contained in Buku Harapan, for which the Harapan presidential council had established a special review committee," said Lim. - Mkini
