BANGI: Amanah Wanita chief Siti Mariah Mahmud last night hit out at rude MPs and assemblymen from Pakatan Harapan who engaged in shouting matches at the Dewan Rakyat or the state assembly.
Sit Mariah, who is Selangor state assembly member for Seri Serdang, said elected representatives should not quarrel in the house.
“Behave and don’t scream like ill-mannered people,” she told reporters after the wing’s convention here.
While she did not identify anyone in particular, Siti Mariah said there were a couple of representatives who gave her a “headache” by just looking at them.
Earlier this week, a Barisan Nasional MP was caught on video uttering an obscenity during a heated argument with RSN Rayer of the DAP, who is MP for Jelutong.
Noh Omar, who has since retracted the word, had said he may have done so after being goaded by Rayer who had called him stupid.
Siti Mariah, who is a Selangor Exco member, said several PH assemblymen and MPs had made grandiose promises during election campaigns, as they did not comprehend the national economy and government administration.
“There are a lot of things that we don’t understand. That is why when giving a ‘ceramah’ they would say things like ‘if we win today, we will abolish tolls’.
“Those people do not understand the economy. It’s impossible to abolish tolls.”
Last year, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said PH was having a hard time fulfilling its election pledges as it made “too many promises”, believing it would not win the general election. - FMT
