Man held over murder of friend

Malaysiakini

Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the murder of his friend at an apartment in Bukit Tinggi Klang today.
Klang Selatan district police chief Shamsul Amar Ramli said the suspect was detained at 1.10pm in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
“The suspect admitted to his involvement in the case and said the incident was due to a misunderstanding after they got drunk at the victim’s house,” he said in a statement today.
Shamsul said a passer-by found the body of the 36-year-old victim at the apartment’s staircase at 7.45am today.
The victim has two previous criminal records.
The victim was found lying face down, wearing only blue shorts and was barefooted, he said.
A post-mortem showed that the cause of death was severe head injuries due to blunt force trauma, Shamsul added.
Meanwhile, in Johor Bahru, an Indonesian couple wanted for their suspected involvement in the murder of their employer on Wednesday were arrested by police at a restaurant in Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, yesterday.
Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the two suspects, both aged 21, were arrested along with a 24-year-old Indonesian man at about 4.30am.
However, he said police were still investigating the relationship between the two suspects and the man.
Ayob said the arrest of the two main suspects in the murder of the 73-year-old woman was made possible with the cooperation of the media.
“Initial questioning found the suspects admitted to being involved in the incident. The motive for the killing was because the suspects were unhappy with the victim, who was their employer,” he said in a statement today.
Ayob said a white Toyota Alphard belonging to the victim, which was used by the two suspects to flee the scene, was found by police at Taman Nusa Bestari near Skudai.
He said all three suspects were under remand for a week beginning today.
On Wednesday, the victim was found dead with head injuries in the living room of her home in Kulai.
The victim's death was discovered by neighbours and her 40-year-son after she failed to be contacted.
The suspects are also believed to have stolen some of the victim’s jewellery.
