Soldiers pelted with garbage but not urine, says Mazlan Lazim

Malaysiakini

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim confirmed that police has received a report that Malaysian Armed Forces members were allegedly pelted with various objects by some residents at Selangor Mansion.
Mazlan (photo) said the incident took place on April 8 when the soldiers were installing concertina wire in the area.
“The complainant had lodged the police report because his personnel informed that some Selangor Mansion residents had thrown objects such as bottles, bags of garbage and flowerpots,” he said in a statement today.
He said no injuries were reported, and the case is being investigated under sections 511 and 324 of the Penal Code for attempting to cause harm to a civil servant. The police have already recorded the complainant’s statement.
Mazlan added that the security of the area - which has been under an enhanced movement control order since April 7 - remains under control, and stern action will be taken against those found responsible for the incident.
However, he echoed Armed Forces Chief Affendi Buang in denying reports that the soldiers were forced to don helmets instead of berets after being pelted with plastic bags filled with urine.
He said the police have received no reports of such incidents, and the wearing of helmets is within the armed forces’ standard operating procedures.
Earlier, Affendi, had said there were no such incidents, and it is normal for the armed forces to wear helmets instead of berets in areas under enhanced movement control order. - Mkini
