Prime Minister extends birthday wishes to the King

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin extended his best wishes to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in conjunction with His Majesty’s official birthday today.

In a Facebook posting, Muhyiddin said he and all Malaysians congratulate the King on his birthday.

“I pray that His Majesty will be given the strength and blessings to continue to reign in greatness, sovereignty and prosperity, ” he said in the posting yesterday.

Muhyiddin said he also hoped that His Majesty and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and all their family members would always be protected by the Almighty and be blessed with good health and longevity.

Separately, during a special televised address on the movement control order (MCO), the Prime Minister said permission to accommodate more worshippers to join congregational prayers at mosques, surau and other religious houses during the recovery MCO period would be announced soon.

He added that permission would be based on the size of houses of worship and was currently being reviewed by the government.

Earlier, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said only Malaysians would be allowed to attend congregational and Friday prayers at mosques once rules were relaxed.

He said mosques would be given the green light to allow more people to attend congregational and Friday prayers, subject to the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers.

The Prime Minister also noted that the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration and sacrificial (korban) activities would be permitted.

However, they were subject to the standard operating procedure approved by the religious authorities, he added. - Star
