Selangor MB demands Daroyah vacate her seat

Malaysiakini

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has demanded that his former ally in PKR, Sementa assemblyperson Dr Daroyah Alwi, vacate her seat after she quit the party.
Amirudin (above) said Daroyah had betrayed the people who had given a clear mandate for Pakatan Harapan to govern the state.
"Following her resignation, I urge Daroyah to immediately resign as Sementa assemblyperson if she still has any dignity," he said in a statement tonight.
Daroyah together with 48 others had announced their decision to leave PKR at a press conference in Shah Alam this afternoon. She said she would now be a PN-friendly independent.
She also resigned from her position as Selangor deputy speaker.
Daroyah and Amirudin were both aligned to Azmin Ali in the past. However, after Azmin defected to PN, Amirudin declared that he would remain loyal to PKR.
In his statement tonight, the menteri besar said the PKR grassroots were sick of immature politics such as that displayed by Daroyah.
Daroyah's exit brings PKR's seats in the Selangor state assembly down to 18 though it still remains as the biggest party in Pakatan Harapan.
For now, Harapan still controls 42 seats of the 56-member state assembly.
However, more defections are expected by disgruntled Azmin allies who are still in PKR. - Mkini
