Police summon Khairuddin to Bukit Aman today

Malaysiakini

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali has been summoned to Bukit Aman tomorrow over the breach of a Covid-19 quarantine order after he returned from Turkey last month.
This was confirmed by Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.
"Yes," he said in a text message to Malaysiakini, when asked if police had summoned the minister to facilitate their probe into the case.
However, no further details were given on the time Khairuddin is supposed to meet investigators.
The Kuala Nerus MP came under the spotlight after Seputeh MP Teresa Kok revealed in the Dewan Rakyat that he had failed to quarantine after returning from Turkey on July 7.
According to the DAP lawmaker, Khairuddin had attended Parliament on July 13 and participated in meetings during the two-week period he was supposed to stay at home.
The incident drew public anger, including from netizens who then started calling for action to be taken against the PAS member.
The Health Ministry had last week stated that it was investigating Khairuddin, before announcing that the minister had been issued a RM1,000 compound on Aug 7 for flouting the quarantine order.
This had led to more criticism on the government for allegedly giving Khairuddin a slap on the wrist compared to other cases involving ordinary Malaysians who received heavier punishment for similar offences.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had on Monday issued a statement saying that the government would leave the matter to the authorities to investigate and take appropriate action. - Mkini
