Security guard in viral beating video arrested too
A Nepali security guard who was seen beaten by another in a video that has gone viral on social media recently has been arrested.
The victim’s lawyer Sumitha Shaanthinni Kishna said she went along with her client to give his witness statement regarding the alleged assault at the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters at 4pm today.
They were accompanied by a Nepali Embassy official who acted as the victim’s interpreter.
“Later, he was detained at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters for investigation in relation to another report made against him by a third party,” she said in a statement today.
Sumitha said she is unsure what the police report is about.
Malaysiakini has contacted the Wangsa Maju police for more information.
The video of the beating was circulated late last month and believed to have been recorded at the parking lot of a condominium located along Jalan Madrasah in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur.
Police had arrested the alleged assailant, who is also Nepali despite being heard speaking Malay in the video, on Aug 3.
The Nepali Embassy had said at the time that it was in contact with the victim and his alleged assailant, and stated both were “undocumented” Nepali nationals. - Mkini
