Nothing to do with us, popular Sabah resort says after Sutera cluster detected
KOTA KINABALU: A popular resort here has distanced itself from the Sutera cluster which was reported by the health ministry earlier today, saying it wasn’t linked to them.
Sutera Harbour Resorts (SHR) clarified that the Sutera cluster does not in any way involve their resorts. It actually refers to a construction site located outside their property.
“The Sutera cluster, as stated in the ministry’s press release, refers to a construction site along Jalan Utama Sutera Harbour Road,” the SHR group’s management said in a statement here.
“At Sutera Harbour Resorts, we are 100% committed to adhering to SOPs published by the ministry. We have been consistently taking stringent measures to keep our guests and our staff safe.”
The resort is home to, among others, the five-star Magellan Sutera Resort, the Pacific Sutera hotel and the Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club.
The Sutera cluster is among five new Covid-19 clusters in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sabah announced by health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah this evening.
Noor Hisham said the Sutera cluster was first detected here when the index patient tested positive on Nov 2 after exhibiting symptoms.
A total of 32 people have been screened so far, with 15 testing positive and six negative. Eleven people are awaiting results. - FMT
