MCA's CRSM launches awareness campaign to help business selling CNY goods
PETALING JAYA: MCA’s Crisis Relief Squad (CRSM) is collaborating with businesses who are struggling to sell pre-ordered Chinese New Year goods because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
CRSM said as Malaysia has been placed under the second movement control order, sellers who pre-ordered Chinese New Year goods are now facing the challenge to sell these goods after the number of customers in the streets dropped drastically.
CRSM said it has organised the GoCare #BeMYHero Awareness Campaign, to help promote the sellers' products on Facebook as a free marketing platform.
CRSM national chief Datuk Natalie Lim said the campaign’s main goal is to assist those affected by the pandemic, regardless whether they are the vulnerable members of society or business owners.
She said the pandemic may still be around for a long time, and that the people will have to adapt to the new normal, including changing their purchasing habits.
“With the abundance of shopping websites nowadays, it has never been easier for sellers who wish to change to this new platform. GoCare will also promote this trend by creating a similar platform, so that customers may find it convenient to purchase their goods while also helping sellers promote their products, ” she said.
Wanita MCA chairperson Datuk Heng Seai Kie also praised the initiative taken by CRSM for organising the online bazaar to help promote the sales of CNY goods, directly helping local sellers increase their revenue.
She said this would enable consumers to purchase festive goods such as clothing, Mandarin oranges, waxed meat (lap mei), and decorations such as lanterns etc. “Furthermore, many housewives and youths who make cakes and cookies for extra income can now take advantage of this platform to promote their goods.
“With MCO now, conventional methods of marketing have become less successful. Thus, sellers should seize this opportunity to promote their products on this platform, ” she said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 27).
Heng urged the Chinese community to give their full support to the campaign, saying that purchasing the products will definitely help the sellers and encourage them to get through the pandemic.
