Two schools closed after Covid-19 infections reported

Two schools have been temporarily closed because of Covid-19 infections.

PETALING JAYA: A sixth form college in Melaka and a primary school in Terengganu have been temporarily closed because of Covid-19 infections, while in Pahang, an SPM examination student was confirmed to have tested positive.

Tun Fatimah Form Six College in Durian Daun, Melaka, was closed for a week after a teacher was tested positive, Bernama reported.

Melaka state executive councillor Noor Effandi Ahmad said: “We understand the teacher was asymptomatic and those who have close contact with the individual have been told to undergo screening.”

Teachers and students who had close contact with the teacher were ordered to undergo quarantine.

In Kuala Terengganu, eight Covid-19 cases were reported at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman 1, which has been ordered to close for 14 days from today.

In Kuala Lipis, an SPM examination candidate at the Mara junior college was confirmed Covid-19 positive on Tuesday and the 144 students placed in quarantine. - FMT
