Constant monitoring for cyber threats - ATM chief
The cybersecurity aspect of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is monitored at all times to counter any threat that may disrupt the country's defence communication network, said ATM chief Affendi Buang.
The general said appropriate measures are implemented by system administrators to address any possible attacks by foreign elements against the ATM and Defence Ministry's cyber system.
“ATM always monitors and steps up its cybersecurity through its Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division (BSEP) and the Cyber Defence Operations Center (CDOC).
"BSEP and CDOC not only strengthen the ATM's monitoring and defence communications network but also protect the country's strategic defence communications network," he said in a statement today.
Affendi said instructions issued by CDOC, as well as measures taken by the operations center, which went viral on social media recently, were normal practice and reminders.
Yesterday, an internal directive went viral on social media which was issued by ATM of the need to enhance the country's cyber defence following news of a purported cyber threat from Israel.
