Lawmaker offered different vaccine for second dose, urges public to be vigilant

A Sabah lawmaker said he was offered a different Covid-19 vaccine for his second dose and after the mix-up, his situation was remedied.

However, Tanjong Papat assemblyperson Frankie Poon urged the public to be vigilant by making sure that they receive the correct vaccine.

Poon shared his concerns in a Facebook post today and related that he had received a text message from the Health Department informing him that his second vaccination will be held on May 19 and he will be receiving the Pfizer vaccine.

"I was totally shocked and alarmed because I was informed that I was given Sinovac on April 28. I am not a doctor but I am really concerned with two kinds of vaccines to be given to my body," he said.

After raising this with the authorities, Poon (above) said the problem was remedied.

However, he said the public should be mindful of which vaccine is administered in case of another mix-up.

"I just want to share with the public so everyone should pay attention and take a picture of the small bottle of what they were given when they had their first dose to avoid different vaccines being applied.

"Although everyone is given a card of their vaccine after they have their first dose, there is no record of the name of the vaccines," he said.
