Selangor cops will assist the needy to find help
Selangor police will be on the lookout for those in need of help due to increasing financial pressure, as the enhanced movement control order (MCO) in large parts of the state begins today.
The state’s police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said police stations chiefs have been instructed to help identify people facing food shortages, depression, and other issues.
“After we have identified them, we will help them connect with the Welfare Department, zakat assistance, and so on,” he told an interview with Media Selangor yesterday.
He was asked how aid can be channelled safely to people flying the white flag at their homes, in light of the enhanced MCO to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
The 14-day enhanced MCO will last until July 16 and applies to 34 subdistricts in Selangor, including the entirety of the populous Petaling district. A total of 14 localities in Kuala Lumpur will also be affected.
Arjunaidi said people can also contact the nearest police station at any time to call for help.
“If there are neighbours and so on facing problems, ask them to call us and we will facilitate them getting help.
“No matter if it is financial needs or counselling, we will try what we can,” he added. - Mkini
