Johor exco tests positive for Covid-19
Johor Works, Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairperson Mohd Solihan Badri was tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
"Yes, I am infected with Covid-19," the Tenang assemblyperson said in a text message to Malaysiakini yesterday.
However, Solihan (above) did not reply when asked whether the entire state cabinet needed to undergo quarantine.
Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad and other executive council members have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
It is learnt that Solihan attended the weekly executive council meeting last Wednesday.
On the same day, he also attended a meeting chaired by Hasni with all representatives ahead of the forthcoming Johor Legislative Assembly sitting.
Following this, two highly placed sources said all state executive council members, including the menteri besar, were tested negative after they went for screening.
"We were informed of Solihan being infected two days ago and we went for screening. All results came back negative.
"Every one of us wore a mask. The meeting room was huge and shields were placed between each other and social distancing was kept during the exco meeting. So, we were not asked to undergo quarantine.
"Maybe those who sat close to Solihan need to undergo a quarantine," said one source.
A check with another source, however, revealed that even the exco members who sat close to Solihan were not asked to undergo home quarantine.
"I was told that the relevant exco members sought advice from a doctor," said the source close to the state administration.
Meanwhile, Johor DAP secretary Andrew Chen, who attended the meeting with Hasni, together with the all-party representatives, was told to undergo a swab test.
"I am still waiting for my result (as of 5pm on Sunday). I will undergo self-quarantine voluntarily, even if I am not asked to do so," Chen said. - Mkini
