JazliSalleh: Reaching out to losers never existed in Umno’s years of politics. They victimise losers, always.

Look at what Anwar Ibrahim had to endure. Look at what Lim Guan Eng had to endure. Look at what the late Karpal Singh had to endure. And lately, look at what Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had to endure. Losers are bullied and minorities are discriminated against.

The judiciary, MACC, PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), ROS (Registrar of Societies), Parliament are apparently manipulated to suit their own selfish interests. This is a very sad state of affairs. There is no one to correct and check these abuses. It’s just accepted as a way of life.

Bornean: Unity government in Malaysia? I am doubtful as this is a winner-takes-all system - the victors would not bother offering any posts or positions of power to their opponents. They won’t even listen to their views.

This is democracy Malaysia-style. Our only hope is the general election.

Also, PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang, in urging the opposition to work with Muhyiddin, said we should not let the corrupt come back to power

And don’t forget, the three Borneo Bersatu parliamentarians - Saratok MP Ali Biju, Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin and Ranau MP Jonathan Yasin - who challenged Pakatan Harapan to state whether the coalition plans to cooperate with kleptocrats.

Now all of them are backing Umno, including the kleptocrat cluster.

So much for their big talk about not working with them. We should always take what they say with a big dollop of salt. And yet, some argue that we should trust Muhyiddin when he offered reforms in return for support. Never trust politicians.

We Know You Know: Indeed, Muhyiddin said his party would not work with kleptocrats. But if Ismail Sabri becomes PM, that is exactly what will happen. Umno would have demanded a heavy price from Ismail Sabri.

As politics go, there are no permanent friends or enemies. Bersatu should team up with Pakatan Harapan and wrest certain conditions from the Anwar-Shafie Apdal team.

Muhyiddin’s seven-point proposal can be the basis of cooperation, including no kleptocrats, together with greater concessions for the Sabah and Sarawak blocs. Bersatu will then have a foot and a hand in the new government.

With Umno, the chances for Bersatu are almost nil. They will never let Muhyiddin’s team gain the upper hand anymore. I hope Muhyiddin understands this reality.

KnockKnock: Let’s go back to basics, Your Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The people had already chosen their government fairly and lawfully, but “special elites” hijacked the government midway via the “Sheraton Move”.

If Tom, Dick and Harry were to do that, they would have landed in jail with the keys thrown into the deep sea, but that kind of law does not apply to these groups of people.

Instead, they thumped their chests without a sense of guilt for betraying the trust of the people, especially those who switch allegiances whenever they see that the grass is greener on the other side.

Frankly, Tuanku, we the people at large have no more confidence in almost all of these ex-ministers.

Being an elderly man, my sincere wish is that let the GE14 government be the interim government for now, minus all the “frogs” of course and let the majority party (PKR) lead, provided they seriously concentrate on Covid-19, health, education, minimising lockdown and improving the economic situation of the country.

OrangeMouse1834: It would be very disappointing if we’re returning to the same government with Ismail Sabri Yaakob on top. His previous performance was terrible and it was not what the people voted for.

Opposition leaders Anwar Ibrahim and Shafie Apdal, on the other hand, would be a great new combination for the country.

Open Mind: The leopard will never change its skin. If Ismail Sabri becomes PM, it will be back to square one as he is a key figure in the Covid-19 crisis as the head of the National Security Council.

All the unclear and confusing SOPs were implemented under his watch. Unless he revamps the whole cabinet and puts credible and competent people in place, it will be the same as before.

It looks like the rakyat have to endure two more years of incompetency before they can put in a government that has their mandate.

BrownCheetah9736: The palace should have given Harapan the first opportunity to form the new government as it is the largest registered bloc. This is in accordance with Westminster tradition.

Unfortunately, what we have now is a rather disgraceful intra-coalition coup that does nothing but a change of PM - one which brought the whole country and the royalties for a big merry-go-round in the midst of a pandemic.

Talk about selfishness and “inhumane” (as quoted by Hadi Awang). The palace should rightfully feel insulted by all these charades.

GrayGecko2174: Thank you, Your Majesty, for requesting the vote of confidence. At least, there will be some checks and balances.

It would be great if the prime ministerial candidates are asked to debate the following issues in Parliament:

1. How will you bring Covid-19 under control and ensure that we are able to live with the disease?

2. How will the economy be propelled and what is your projection for employment?

3. How will you make a difference in creating investor confidence and attracting new investors?

4. How will you ensure that the education quality and outreach is achieved for the children whose education was impacted by Covid-19? - Mkini
