Authorities deny Malacca borders closed for 15 days

Authorities have denied that Malacca borders will be closed for 15 days as alleged on social media.

The National Security Council said a purported SOP saying that borders will be closed from Sunday until election day is fake.

Likewise, Malacca police also said the purported SOP was fake and was reportedly edited from the 2020 Sabah state election.

"Malacca police are still waiting for SOPs on the Malacca polls from the Election Commission and the NSC," state police chief Abdul Majid Mohd Ali was quoted as saying by Bernama.

The nomination day for the Malacca polls is on Monday, with voting on Nov 20.

Thus far, the only clear SOP for the election is a ban on all physical gatherings and social events related to the state election from Oct 25 to Nov 27.

The ban includes functions to launch election machinery of the various parties.  - Mkini
