3 Natural Remedies for Swollen Feet and Ankles
Edema (or swelling) is a common condition caused by accumulation of fluid in the body tissues. The condition is common during pregnancy, but can also be caused by high blood pressure and kidney problems.
Edema is not very harmful, but it can be very unpleasant. If you notice that one of your feet has become more swollen than the other, you need to visit a doctor as you may be dealing with a blood clot which can be life-threatening.
Luckily for you, we have some great natural remedies that can resolve the condition easily.
Mint bath
Ingredients
4 cups of water
Half a cup of mint leaves
Preparation
Put the mint leaves in a pot of water, then leave them for 10 minutes and let the mixture cool down. Pour the water in a bowl and soak your feet in the mixture for 10 minutes.
Tonic water bath
It may sound strange, but tonic water can reduce the swelling in your feet and ankles. Just soak your feet in tonic water at room temperature for half an hour to relieve the swelling. Tonic water works thanks to the quinine content which can reduce inflammation.
Salt water bath
Add a handful of Epsom salt in a bucket of water, then soak your feet in to relax your muscles and relieve the swelling.
