Affirmative here to stay

What a news THIS is. According to our premier who was on HARDtalk (a rather porny name),  affirmative action will continue. The report kicked off with;

The Pakatan Harapan government will not end the national affirmative action policy favouring Malays, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in an interview with BBC today.

Host of HARDtalk
Well I guess that's that then. I understand the need for it. I really do but to think after all these years, there is still a need for it means something is wrong.

Korea and Japan managed to grow their industries circa the same time frame and here we are stuck with this sorry shit that seems to be on a never ending loop.

Notice how the good doc phrased it;

“Why should I stop? We are trying to correct disparity in wealth between the Malays and others.

The policy is to continue not because it is the god given right of the Malays or because they were here first but instead the policy still has to run because the Malays still haven't caught up.

Digest that sad part.

So our brethren should take this on the chin and consider it a national service I suppose. Are they willing? I'm pretty sure a lot of them are sad and angry but I could be wrong and they could all be rejoicing at this very moment.

Anyways, it'd be interesting to see how other components in PH react and it'd also be really neat and cool to hear what our premier in the wings has to say on this.

Hurdle for Malays?
I am for the affirmative policy and I understand the need for it but what I am not for is the constant abuse that it gets and how the same old heads are becoming richer.

Here's a true story and it's not bullshit. A lady colleague where I work is pushing her 2 offspring to grab a full federal scholarship to study in another part of the world.

This lady colleague is taking home a 5 figure pay packet and she even admits that she could afford to send them on her own.

Being the inquisitive creature that I am, I then asked her why not and she said a scholarship carries more prestige because of the competition.  Get it? Holy shit.

Are Malay kids, who's parents' combined take home pay is in the 5-figure range, still to pocket from the affirmative policy?

The ones that deserve it are not getting it. They get the crumbs instead.

This lady friend of mine was herself a former benefactor of the affirmative policy and she'd studied in the states but I guess she's still stupid even after the cultural exposure in her 20's.

How has the affirmative policy helped her? She's still stupid even though she's making good money. We want to cure stupid. This is the root problem.

Guess people have to accept the fact Pekema will still be relevant and this would then mean a few Malays would be laughing their asses to the bank without breaking a sweat at the expense of everyone including the Malays that were supposed to be protected.

I was really hoping that UiTM be opened up to non Malays to make it more competitive but I guess this is also a pipe dream and this idea was first mooted by Arshad Ayub albeit for post grad studies.

You can't help those that do not want to be helped. Someone has to whisper this upstairs.

And this affirmative policy is treating the symptoms and not the problem and that's why we're still in this sorry mess.

Stupid is the real problem.  -masofpup.blog
