BOMBSHELL – CALLS GROW FOR PAKATAN TO FIX A DATE FOR PM TRANSITION: SIT DOWN & TALK, DON’T FIGHT – ZAID WARNS IT’S TIME TO PUT MALAYSIA FIRST AGAIN, THERE MUST CLARITY IN SUCCESSION OR THERE’LL BE CHAOS IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO 93-YEAR-OLD DR MAHATHIR

PORT DICKSON – The Pakatan Harapan government has been asked to put to bed all uncertainty and “political attacks” against them regarding the transition of Prime Minister from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by fixing a proper date.
Former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim argued that an agreement for the prime ministership transition would mean little if there was no particular date fixed for it and that it would only create uncertainty among the public.
“Pakatan leaders should sit down and fix a date because an agreement that has no date is not an agreement. In law, we call it lack of certainty.
“Agreements must have certainty. So if u want him (Anwar) to succeed Mahathir, you have to sit down and discuss,” he told reporters after attending a ceramah, here, on Tuesday night.
“Not asking you to fight, but to sit down and fix a day so the transition in the future is smooth and they can plan for it. I think that is important,” he added.
PH had, prior to the May 9 elections, announced that Mahathir would be the prime minister if it won the elections, with Anwar to replace him after.
However, despite Mahathir maintaining on several occasions that he would ensure he passed the baton to Anwar, no dates have been announced by the coalition yet as to when the transition of power would take place.
On criticism against Anwar that his candidacy in the Port Dickson by-election was rushed, Zahid said it was only made by those who did not want the PKR president-elect to come into power.
“We won the election because we promised the people many things, but mainly because of the promise that Mahathir and Anwar would be the ones changing the country.
“We have to honour that. And when Anwar is named the successor, we got to make sure he’s ready for it. So the process of this by-election is just part of it,” he said.
