Jamal Khashoggi disappeared after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in early October.

Khashoggi, a former adviser to senior officials in the Saudi government who had sought self-imposed exile in the US, entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 but has not been heard from since, leading to speculation that he had been kidnapped or killed inside the consulate.
