‘Mongolian Cowboy’ Doesn’t Speak English, But Slays a Country Classic to Perfection

Enkh-Erdene, aka the “Mongolian Cowboy,” showed he had what it takes to be “The World’s Best” when he made jaws drop at his audition for the new CBS talent competition.

This was Enkh’s first time in the United States and he does not speak or understand English, but that didn’t stop him from performing George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning” after the Super Bowl on Feb. 3.

 

The singer told host James Corden via a translator that he wanted to “swim at the beach” while he was in America.

When Enkh took the stage and hit the first note of the country classic, everyone, including judges RuPaul, Drew Barrymore and country legend Faith Hill, was left stunned as he sang in a southern accent.

His performance received a standing ovation from the audience and panel of judges.

“I’m really speechless. You picked one of the most classic country songs by one of the greatest country singers of our lifetime and you blew me away and I’m the biggest George Strait fan,” Faith said after the performance, according to Kicks 99 Country.

It is safe to say that Enkh will be moving on to the next round of the competition.

This isn’t the first time the singer has performed “Amarillo by Morning.”

In 2016, Enkh performed the country song during an audition for Mongolia’s “Got Talent,” a competition he eventually went on to win.

 

He was also compared to Vietnamese immigrant Mr. Hyunh from the classic Nickelodeon animated series “Hey Arnold!” in the episode “Dangerous Lumber/Mr. Hyunh Goes Country.”
