Queen answers critic over photo-snapping during Merdeka event
PETALING JAYA: The queen today defended herself from a critic who accused her of behaving childishly after footage surfaced of her taking photos with her mobile phone during the recent Merdeka Day celebration.
Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah said in a Twitter post that she had been asked to take photos by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
“The king asked me to take photos… I only followed the king’s command. Thank you for your comment,” she added.
She was responding to a Twitter user by the name of @Finalana1 who said the queen had behaved “like a small child”.
“Could you not have just sat down properly like a queen who is appreciating the event. Like rabbit in Alice in Wonderland,” the user added.
The post sparked outrage from other users, many of whom said @Finalana1 was being rude.
“Biarlah tu queen kami,” one said. “We love our queen.”
“HRH was enjoying the moment, like normal people do,” another said.
“Let the queen do whatever she wants to, as long as it is appropriate,” said another. - FMT
