In Defense Of The Security Laws - SOSMA, ISA

NGO slammed Bukit Aman’s defence of Sosma
labelling it attempt to mislead nation into believing it would benefit country

Suaram said Ayob’s claim that bail for terrorists would reunite terror cells absurd

judges who preside murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery determine bail
police, through public prosecutor can give good cause person should not be bailed

Ayob’s insistence 28-day remand period be maintained
under Criminal Procedure Code, maximum remand period 14 days

My comments :
  • Well does SUARAM agree with that judge (at that Inquest) saying that fireman was killed by two or more persons?
  • Over-ruling the expert pathologist from the hospital who had conducted the postmortem who found that the fireman had been hit by a vehicle and had also suffered further fractures to his rib cage AT THE HOSPITAL?
  • And instead listening to the contrary "opinions" of another pathologist WHO HAD NOT PERFORMED THE AUTOPSY plus a PHYSICIST ??
So please do not hang too much hope on the good senses or cleverness of the judges.

I would prefer numbers.

A judge who decides whether bail should be granted or no (or if it was a stupid kemalangan or being killed by two or more persons)  is JUST ONE person. Then NO ONE can question his/her judgement except a higher Court.

The POLICE on the other hand is not an individual. The Police represents a large number of people, extremely well organised, with proper procedures and checks and balances. Minus political interference and corrupt influences (which are separate matters) I would rather trust the Police as an organisation (which can still be challenged) than trusting just one judge whose ruling can become almost written in stone (Ya lah you can reverse it but it will take years through a slow appeals process and only if you win).

But the other point is the CPC already allows a 14 day remand period.
So are 14 days ok?
Isnt  a 14 day remand way too much for armed robbers, murderers and drug traffickers?
How about SEVEN days? How about FIVE days? Why not just ONE day?

Or are 14 days too short? So how about 16 days? Or 18 days?
I am just hair splitting aloud. Just how many days are too many or too few?

There must be some reasoning why the SOSMA sees 28 days detention without bail as fit for the purpose.

In an age of cross border terrorism, terror attacks controlled / inspired via Internet from thousands of kilometers away, shadow groups, non state terror organisations, terror funding and don't know what else these satans have planned, I think all right thinking people should place our trust (and our peace and harmony) in the hands of the Police who spend their lives 24/7 studying, investigating, gathering evidence, arresting and bringing to justice all these psycho terrorists.

Todate the Police have done a marvellous job of NOT letting through any major terror attack (except for that isolated grenade blast in Puchong) on Malaysian soil.

The Police have achieved some spectatcular successes in thwarting various terror groups from carrying out their attacks not only in Malaysia but also into our neighbouring countries.

The Police have close cooperation with many other Police organisations from around the globe to thwart terrorists.

We have nothing to complain about how the Police go about doing their job to contain terrorism.  So just let the Police do their job.

It was a huge mistake to abolish the old ISA.
A really stupid mistake - succumbing to empty tin cans.

"Abolish the ISA" was just a ploy to get votes.

Now once they are in power NONE of the old "Abolish the ISA" gang are saying 'ABOLISH the SOSMA'.  How come?

Sivarasa, Guan Eng, Mr Lim Kit Siang, Mujahid, Khalid, Kula, Surendran, Santiago - apa sudah jadi?

So just leave the Police to get on with their fantastic track record against the terrorists.

It is the politicians who are now working against the Police by providing space for terror preachers and to pro ISIS muftis in this country.

Big mistake.
