Zuraida attacks ‘novice’ and ‘mafia’ influence on Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin says she and deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali are willing to be sacrificed, by being sacked, if it meant the party would return to the right track.
Speaking at the Vision 2030 Shared Prosperity dinner here today, Zuraida said she had no qualms with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim becoming the 8th prime minister, but the smooth running of the party was also very important.
“It’s not that we want to fight. The president remains the president, but the management of the party is what’s important to us.
“Do it right. Can’t we negotiate? Because we want to say again the things that we feel are not right. Hear our opinions first.
“If they really want to sack us, Azmin and I are ready. We are willing to be sacrificed for PKR because we want to return it to the right track,” she told a packed hall at the dinner today, drawing shouts of support from the crowd.
She claimed that Anwar’s judgement seemed to have been affected by the influence of the “novice” and “mafia” in the party, veiled digs at PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil and Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador.
She said that Fahmi and Farhash were both preoccupied with ensuring they got official positions in the future.
Earlier in her speech, Zuraida had called Fahmi a “child in diapers”, telling him not to be prideful in reprimanding him as she was the “most obedient” in attending meetings before Anwar had become president.
She later said Farhash, who came to the party’s national congress in a black shirt and songkok, acted as if he was in the mafia.
“Blocked by gangsters, blocked by liars. If they call us ‘cartel’, what should I call them over there? Mafia? First-class mafia,” she said.
Aware that her speech was being recorded, Zuraida said she wanted Anwar to hear her speech, adding that she hoped that he would change.
“So that he can get his sanity back; that he can get his intelligence back and put our party on the right track.”
Earlier, Azmin, PKR vice-president Tian Chua, Sivarasa Rasiah (deputy minister of rural development), Amiruddin Shaari (Selangor menteri besar) and PKR Wanita leader Haniza Talha had also delivered speeches at the event. - FMT
