Filipino Singer Does an ENTIRE Duet Song by HIMSELF on ‘AGT: The Champions’
Filipino singing sensation Marcelito Pomoy delivered a mesmerizing performance on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.”
A spin-off of the singing reality show “America’s Got Talent,” the show features former participants from across both “AGT” and the “Got Talent” franchise worldwide.
Pomoy, who won the second season of local reality talent contest “Pilipinas Got Talent,” is known in the Philippines for his incredible ability to sing in both male and female voices.
In episode 2 of “The Champions” aired on January 13, the 35-year-old singer captivated the international stage by singing both Andrea Bocelli’s tenor part and Céline Dion’s soprano part in “The Prayer.”
His performance impressed both the judges and the audience who all gave he singer a standing ovation at the end of Pomoy’s song.
“You are a beautiful, wonderful singer with a young woman trapped inside of you,” said Howie Mandel, one of the celebrity judges on the show.
“I want to see something different, something unique, and Marcelito you just gave that to us. It was absolutely brilliant,” exclaimed judge Alesha Dixon.
“Your voice, your song, your range is just so out of this world,” Heidi Klum said, noting that it was one of the “craziest things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.”
While Pomoy did not get the “Golden Buzzer” last Monday, he was able to advance to the next round as a semi-finalist after winning the “Superfan Vote.”
Pomoy is a former balut vendor who left home when he was still a young boy and spent his years living on the streets surviving on $1 a day.
He first rose to international fame after making an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last year.
